FOUR  PRINCIPLES FOR WEAR ORANGE

  1. BE INCLUSIVE.   Preventing gun violence is a task for all of us. The pandemic of gun violence strikes vulnerable populations especially hard,  minority communities, LGBTQ,  including transgender people, women in domestic violence situations. Recognize that gun violence is a problem for all of us. And it takes all of us to succeed

  2.  Don’t forget. UPLIFT GUN SURVIVORS, don’t leave them out. Survivors/victims are:  Those who have been hurt by gun violence. Some had loved ones wounded or fatally shot by means of firearms.  Some were wounded themselves. Some have been threatened by a gun or gunshots. And still others have been left in fear from gun shots nearby.

  3. BUILD RELATIONSHIPS WITH OTHERS. -- Partner with other congregations and civic groups and start early.

  4. BE ADAPTABLE. If you find June 2-4 is a conflict with Pentecost Sunday, then celebrate it the following Sunday. Or if you plan an interfaith celebration, choose a date that works for all faiths. WEAR ORANGE CAN BE AN ENTIRE MONTH. Use it to address gun violence in the way that works for you.
