Legislative Action
*Letter Writing Campaigns: organize parish “Offering of Letters” Sundays to urge congressional action for common-sense gun laws. Brady and Moms Demand Action track legislation and provide background information for letter writers.
*Child Access Protection Laws (safe storage laws): there are no federal CAP laws. Research your state’s CAP Laws. If you live in one of the 26 states without CAP laws or in one of the many with weak CAP laws, write your state legislators urging them to hold adults accountable for negligent gun storage.
*Advocate with School Boards: Students Demand Action for Gun Sense in America created an advocacy toolkit for School Boards complete with coaching for effective advocacy, fact sheets, and proposed ideas. School boards appear to have the power to screen books and curricula, but they also have the power to disseminate information.
